CSULB Climate Action Plan: Logo Design
This logo was designed for the CSULB Sustainability Department for use with their Climate Action Plan. It represents the campus' transformation into a more sustainable community.
Project Brief
In 2014, California State University, Long Beach became a signatory of the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment (ACUPCC). CSULB committed to reducing campus greenhouse gas emissions and achieving climate neutral operations by 2030. Upon becoming a signatory, the Sustainability Department at CSULB wanted to brand the Climate Action Plan. My logo design represents the transformation CSULB began as means to achieve a sustainable campus and create environmentally concientious individuals. In this design, an iconicized version of the Walter Pyramid transforms into a leaf. The two planes of the Walter Pyramid resemble the fast-forward and/or rewind buttons on a television remote; however, in this design the planes face in opposite directions. This represents the past we are learning from as well as the forward-thinking we must continue to do in order to achieve the goals laid out in CSULB’s Climate Action Plan.
Competition Winner
My logo design was selected by the CSULB Sustainability Department as the competition winner. It is currently used on the cover of CSULB's Climate Action Plan.
